Post Deliverance Counseling
Did you know that deliverance is a part of Christian culture? Spiritual influences are accepted as a part of Christian world view. Prayers to God, praise to God, and petitions to be delivered from spiritual wickedness are part of church principle and practice around the world. Many churches at the end of prayer service have prayer lines or alter call at the end of a church service. During these times and even throughout the service a God inspired word delivered by the preacher, minister, pastor, priest may reach the oppressed individual and liberate them from situational, emotional, physical, and even spiritual oppression. Deliverance is a term recognized within denominations ranging from Catholic, Non-Denominational, Pentecostal, Assembly of God, Apostolic, and other variations of Christian faith and practice.
When a person has an encounter with Jesus, they may feel vulnerable, awkward, and confused about their experience without the proper follow up. Deliverance counseling is just one resource available to assist others in stabilizing their lifestyle in Christ post deliverance. It does not negate the involvement of Christ in their life but strengthens them to find comfort in their emerging relationship with God through Christ Jesus. God desires for us to be fully equipped to every good work which includes Christian education and counseling to fortify their relationship with God. Failure to develop an understanding of Christ Centered living can result in retraction to old ways of thinking and living which reacquaint one with ways that they had previously surrendered to Christ. It is for this reason that we endeavor to serve an individual beyond a prayerful encounter to explore the empowered lifestyle of the believer in Christ.

Scriptures about Deliverance:
Matthew 12:43-45New American Standard Bible (NASB)43 “Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came’; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.” Matthew 13:3-15, Ephesians: 4:8 Romans 8:2 |

Deliverance needs follow up care
Following a deliverance, it is equally important to further help a person in their walk with Christ by helping them to get involved in counseling, Christian education, and becoming a part of a support group following their experience. Here at Emerging Christians we offer post deliverance counseling as a follow up to your emerging Christian experience with Jesus.
I have seen the Lord Jesus touch, heal, and deliver people from addiction, adultery, heal sprained ankles, kidney stones, physical ailments, even cancer. There is nothing to hard for God. All things are possible to him that believes. We offer prayer for people to receive from God. God has said it is his good pleasure to give you the kingdom. - Calvin Smith
"Luke 12:32New American Standard Bible (NASB)32 Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom."
My experience with deliverance
Administering Deliverance
"As a deliverance counselor I remember a time as a prayer partner when we as a team were at the prayer line praying for people that were requesting prayer. There was a person that began hissing as we began to pray for them. My counselor training prompted me to think initially "Is this a mental illness, physical illness, or spiritual?" Following that thought others began to flood my mind. The more I looked at the person's manifestation, thoughts that I was not equipped to deal with this began to pervade. That I was powerless against this spiritual manifestation. It was at that point that prayerfully scriptures like these came to mind. Put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. He who the son sets free is free indeed. Put on the whole armor of God that you may stand in the evil day, and others. As I remembered that the Lord our God is a very present help in time of trouble and as I became reoriented to Christ, I began to realize that this attack on my competency was not for me but to keep me from praying for that person in need of spiritual liberation. Sometimes, when dealing with spiritual manifestations the spirit will present itself as your own thoughts. It will attempt to weaken your faith through self doubt. If you do not believe you will not act as God instructs us to act as we address spiritual oppression to advance God's kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Both as a prayer partner and person receiving prayer God intends for us to walk in spiritual authority, victory, freedom and redemption through Christ. That person got their deliverance!

THe Headache
God grants physical healings too. He is not limited to spiritual healing. There was a woman that complained of a consistent headache. She told me she had been struggling with some family issues. She was open to praying about her situation. As we prayed asking Jesus for his intervention, the woman began to weep. When the prayer was complete she said her headache had gone! God can heal physical ailments!
Cancer
While at the grocery store, a woman stopped me and my friend stating excuse me, but I see the Holy Spirit on you and I would like to ask you to pray for my friend. He has cancer. My friend and I agreed to pray with her. As we were praying the Holy Spirit showed me a light on her shoulders. When we completed praying for her friend I asked her if this meant anything to her. She began crying, and said the doctor had diagnosed her with cancer in her shoulders. We prayed for her complete healing and for the cancer to be gone from her body in Jesus name. If God reveals it, God wants to heal it!
Addiction
Earlier in the day before Wednesday night service, I had been drawn to a scripture that I kept meditating on regarding deliverance. It did not make sense to me and I was asking God for the interpretation of the scripture. Later that evening in service a man had come to visit the church I was attending. The pastor had asked people come up that needed to receive prayer. I was in the pews. Praying for these people along with other members of the congregation. The pastor asked me to come up and pray for this man. With hesitation I thought to myself..."Me???" I did as the pastor asked. I prayerfully sought how he wanted me to pray for this man. I asked what would he like prayer for?? He said he had been struggling with addiction. We began to pray that he be loosed from the addiction. I felt prompted to put my hand on his chest. As I moved towards him he fell to the ground. I didn't even touch him but God did! Then the scriptures I had been considering earlier in the day began to make sense. The were addressing addiction. He who the son sets free is free indeed! His countenance changed before our eyes. He began to exclaim. "I'm free! I'm free!" That man received his deliverance from the Lord! Praise God!
Financial
I was working two jobs. I was on my way from one job heading to another. I saw a woman walking down the street. I felt compelled to talk to this woman. I wrestled with this thought since I needed to be on time to work. Finally I gave in to the unction. I asked her how she was doing. She immediately began to tell me how she was on a faith walk and had come from another state to bring her brother to the cancer center for treatment. She told me how she didn't have any money or food and had used all she had to get there. The Cancer center had taken her brother in but she still needed food. As I considered her story I decided that I would give her my groceries for the fourth of July weekend. I was going to eat over a friends anyway. As I was coming out of my place with the groceries my neighbor came out and asked me what I was doing. I told him and he said to wait a second, he also had something to give. When he came out his neighbor asked the same. This continued to happen for this woman and before you knew it this woman had about 10-11 bags of groceries!!
As everybody was gathered around excited about what God was doing for this woman a car pulls up. A woman steps out and asks who was this woman? Everyone looked to me. I asked why are you asking? She said it was because she was driving down the road and the Holy Spirit told her to turn into this residential area and keep driving. When she got to the corner the Holy Spirit said to park and give this woman $100!!! We rejoiced even more!! God has financial blessings in store for you through unexpected ways! God can deliver you in your finances!
